  • Virat Kohli has a lucrative deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
  • Run machine Virat Kohli reportedly has a net worth of USD 60 million

Leader, role model, and an absolute icon of the gentlemen’s game, Indian skipper and run machine Virat Kohli is one of the most successful athletes both on and off the field. A walking nightmare for any opposition, Kohli is known for rewriting history in the game of cricket across all formats. The most successful Indian captain in Test cricket also occasionally features in the list of the highest-paid athletes. Famous for breaking records, the Team India captain enjoys a massive fan following on social media.

Nicknamed Super V or King Kohli, the talismanic batsman of the Men In Blue is the only cricketer to have more than 100 million followers on Instagram. The Team India captain has over 137 million followers on the photo and video sharing platform. Kohli’s superstar status off the field has also made him the highest-paid Indian on Instagram. The 32-year-old reportedly charges over ₹5 crore for every promotional post which gets shared from his official Instagram handle.

Kohli has an A+ category contract with BCCI

Interestingly, Kohli is not getting the biggest paycheque in world cricket as far as central contracts of international teams are concerned. England captain Joe Root has been given a much-enhanced contract by England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Root has an estimated salary of INR 8.97 crore and the premier batsman is paid handsomely more than what BCCI is paying Kohli through central contracts.

The stylish cricketer was retained in BCCI’s top bracket contract list which is worth INR 7 crore. Besides Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah are also slotted in BCCI’s ‘A+’ category which means all three players have an annual salary of INR 7 crore. So how is Kohli the top-earning cricketer in the world?

Kohli’s lucrative deal with RCB

There is a reason why Kohli has never featured in an IPL auction. As a batsman, Kohli arguably is the best ever in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In order to retain the best in the business, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are making sure that Kohli draws the maximum salary every season. Chris Morris might have shattered records by joining Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 but Kohli is still ahead of the highest-paid player at the IPL 2021 auction. Kohli earns a salary of Rs 17 crore per season in the IPL.

King Kohli’s sponsorship deals

Even when Kohli is not leading India from the front, the batting maestro is making millions thanks to his long list of sponsorship deals. King Kohli has high-end endorsement deals with household names. Kohli endorses brands like Puma, Myntra, Uber India, Manyavar, Audi, MRF, MPL, Philips India, Hero, and Vicks. Talking about fame, Kohli was the only cricketer to feature in the list of top 100 highest-paid athletes last year.
